For this design, we honored IndyCar legend and American racing icon Johnny Rutherford. “Lone Star J.R.” signed with McLaren in 1973, after years of racing experience with both open-wheel cars and stock cars. One season later, he earned his first of three Indianapolis 500 wins; the win helped McLaren eventually solidify its auto racing Triple Crown.
